Flamanville Power Plant


France has the second largest Nuclear Fleet, after the United States of America, with a “Generation Capacity” of 61.3 GW in 2024. France operates 56 Nuclear Reactors, across 18 Nuclear Power Stations. Most recently, EDF (Electricité de France) has inaugurated Flamanville 3, an EPR (European Pressurized Reactor) developed by Framatome and Siemens, with a “Generational Capacity” of 1.6 GW.

France has a “Generation Capacity” of 72.2 GW for Renewables : Hydro, Wind and Solar. Hydro is the most important source of Renewable Energy with 25.5 GW of “Generation Capacity”, next Wind Power at 24.1 GW and Solar Power at 22.6 GW. Since 2018, Renewables particularly Wind and Solar are the most important contributors to the increase in “Generation Capacity” in France.
